What fills my head? My husband, my kids, writing, cute shoes, any body of water, pilates, the outdoors, far away family, getting to the bottom of the laundry basket, long distance friends, my job, finances, hypothetical disasters, real disasters, reading. It never ends.
What doesn’t consume me? God, giving, and serving others. Yes, it’s true. I am selfish, as in selfish, selfish, selfish. However, I long to change because I fully believe “You cannot impart what you do not possess” (Good advice from Susie Larson in Growing Grateful Kids), and I want my family to possess giving hearts.
When I see self-centeredness in my eight-year-old as she claims, “I don’t even know any poor people,” I know I am not practicing what I want to impart, and therefore, it’s time to start doing things differently.
Can one, beyond blessed family move from addicted to ourselves to devoted to others?
That's what we are trying to find out, and this blog is where I share our journey.
Thanks for joining us as we fumble around and try discover God-sized ways to give in the everyday.
